A lonley village girl who has social phobia is forced to make a life changing decision. Will she confront her fears?
Theme - What is my story Really about?
My story is about a girl with social phobia who copes with situations in her everyday life.
Plot
A girl who has a problem with confrontation is forced to run away from what she feels is 'danger'; where she ends up finding sanctuary at a church and meets a vicar. She begins talking to the vicar who helps her overcome her anxiety issues and confronts her fears. Meanwhile, when talking to the girl the vicar remembers that he is still running away from something. Something in his past which may also be catching up on him.
Characters - who are they, their traits, what would they do in certain situations?
Layla - a young girl in her late teens. She has social phobia. This means she has a fear of confrontation and talking to people. Due to this problem it has been very hard for her to make friends, which means the only people who she would talk to is her parents or her social advisor who she sees every week. If she feels she is in an uncomfortable situation around people she would most likely stay as far as possible from the situation. Social phobia can come with anxiety issues which is what Layla has. So if she feels she has nowhere to go, she could start getting panic attacks. For the past few years, Layla has been going to a social advisor to help her deal with her problems.
Goal - Be picked up by mother and get home safely.
Problem - Strangers are watching her. She has social phobia where she is beginning to feel uncomfortable.
Change - overcomes her fear of confronting people.
Vicar - an old family man. Runs the church and stays late all the time to make sure everything is clean and tidy in the 'House of the Lord'. So he is very religious. Before he became a vicar he used to be a thief. He stole because his family were very poor and needed to steal of big stores to sell the items he stole for money. If it wasn't items he stole food so he can feed his family to eat. One day, an incident happened where his friends had gotten caught by the police. He realised that if he got caught and locked up, no-one would be able to provide for his family. He thought someone was overlooking him giving him a second chance, so he turned to faith. He gave up his job as a thief and relied on charity to get by. Now, after studying the Bible he feels he must do the right thing 'by the Lord' so when he gets judged his scales would balance the other way.
Goal - close up the Church to go home.
Problem - a girl is in distress so he helps her calm down.
Change - confronts his consequences from his past.
