Trip to Margate - Visit Theatre Royal

In the middle of Production, the Director wanted to go to Margate to assess the location again. The only day they could go was a Sunday, which was a dark day. A dark day is the day off for the production. They needed someone to drive them there and as it was a day off, no one needed to work that day.

I offered to drive them that Sunday. I could see that the production team were surprised and extremely grateful that I would do this for them on a day off. To me I felt we are on a production, and if the production needs something done, it does not matter if it is a day of rest, at least the production will be prepared. I guess, as I was a runner I would not have needed as much rest as the rest of the crew would.

Theatre Royal (2015)

The journey to Margate was a few hours from Maidstone. I had picked up 3 passengers, the Director, DOP and Cinematographer. We exchanged very little conversation in the car as they were all Hungarian and knew little English. The Director had already mentioned at the beginning of the journey that the DOP and Cinematographer didn't know any English. He was kind enough to mention that they were going to be speaking in Hungarian because they have some work to discuss and they were not trying to be rude. I told them I didn't mind because that is the purpose of the journey.

Directors at work (2015)

The theatre was opened to the directors for a few hours to discuss any problems they had and think and look at where they wanted to shoot. I spent more time talking to the Director on the journey back and found out more about his personal life.
