Work Placement on 'The Carer'
After applying to bigger production companies I was struggling to get a reply from the applications. Whilst following Jackson, I was advised to look
for local, smaller, independent production companies. I found a production
company from ‘FilmKent’ who were looking for a runner for their feature film;
‘The Carer’, and immediately applied to the job through an online application
process. I received a call to attend an interview.
I did not have much to research on the film or the production. The production was made up of independent filmakers. The only person who I could look up was Chris Pencowski who is the production coordinator for 'The Carer' and the one who I have been in contact with.
Chris Pencowski - TV Series Writer and Producer for Channel 4's 'Random Acts' (2013)
When I turned up to the interview, I found out I was being interviewed by the UK Producer Charlotte Wontner who I later found out 'has worked extensively across documentary and drama as a producer and a production manager for twenty five years.' - IMDB, 2015
I tried to promote the skills and work I have
achieved which I had independently worked on outside of university,
which proved that I am serious about filmmaking. I re-enforced them that I had
my own car, so I was able to travel freely, which was what enabled me to secure
my placement as this allowed be to be more flexible with shooting locations.
