Going to Leeds Castle I decided to do some test shoots with my Sony NEX-5N camera.
I played with composition, filming water flowing, looking at symmetry and the sun setting; some of the types of shots I will be using for the adaptation.

These shots are testing the camera facing the sun setting. The 1st one is quite symmetrical through the reflection. In the second shot, the symmetry is broken up through the branches at the top of the frame. I prefer the first shot because of the shape the light forms between the trees and hills. Although, I like the sun shining through the branches of the tree, which could be metaphorical to the soldiers fighting for light and fighting for peace and freedom. I also quite like the golden colours captured in the shots, it feels quite warm, but at the same time a bit cold when looking at the dark trees. This is great contrast which could be used in the adaptation.

I shot a stream running from the castle. I do like the use of the river taking the audience's eye from right to left then back to right because of the direction of the rivers flow. The colours seem natural but as my lens was zoomed all the way in, I should have pushed up the shutter speed because I can see the video losing quality because there was not enough frames per second picking up the movement. I have decided to take a larger lens, so if I had to shoot a closer shot, I can without losing data.

The next three test shots are playing more with reflection from the moat.

The first shot of these three I find quite interesting because it looks upside down and because of the waters ripples create a unusual effect.

Here, I decided not to shoot the castle itself but see the castle through the reflection in the moat.

In this one, I decided to show the castle. I do not find it different or interesting enough. It is over exposed, which I would have to remember to check when shooting.
