I have researched into Gregory Credson as a Photographer and in one of his interviews he mentioned that his photography does not have any story behind it. He wants the audience to leave the photo opened for peoples imagination, creativity and conclusion for a story.
'Beneath the roses' is the title for a series of photographs and this photo is one of them from the series. The common theme for this series is sadness and beauty.

My interpretation of this photo is that the mood feels calm and unnerving. There is a house on fire but yet these people on the right look calm and unbothered. Only one person is watching, but only watching as if for entertainment purposes, not thinking about if anyone is in danger where he could help. The photo seems surreal because on a realistic point of view, when there is fire there would be many people creating so much noise and willing to go find out if anyone is in danger or need help etc... In this photo there is only 5 people and 90% of them are not looking at the fire, but instead looking calm as they are strolling past it.
