Shoot day 1 - Filming 'Mummy and me' group.
Filming mummy and me group went well. We had captured a lot of footage with toddlers playing with their mums as well as other kids. We had also captured footage of Zoey and Ronnie, the characters who we will be documenting. We had a variety of shots from close-ups, mid-shots to long shots. Close ups were to show the intamacy and relationship between the mother and child, mid-shots to show the toddlers playing with other toddlers, and long shots to show the group as a whole.
Problems
Problems occurred with filming because there were certain children which we had no permission to film. At times during filming, some of the beautiful shots were ruined by particular kids who we did not have permission for who walked into the shot. We could not tell them to move because this was an environment in which we could not control, therefore we had to stop filming and shoot elsewhere. Other problems occurred when trying to film mid or long shots because of this restriction. As I was on camera I had to get another person to look into the screen to keep a lookout for those particular children who we had no permission for.
We had planned to film interviews with some of the mothers in the room next door, talking about the group and how it helps them bring up their child. We were so involved and immersed with what the parents and children were doing in the group, we did not manage to film this because no one kept track of time.

Shoot day 2 - Interview with Zoey
Today we filmed an interview with Zoey. Our group had discussed about hiding the character at the beginning of the film when Zoey talks about the negatives in her life. Then gradually revealing her whilst she discusses about how and when her life improves. This interview is to hear Zoey talk about her struggles in life. Questions about the topic were prepared for so we could cover each topic we wanted for the interview. Before we started filming, Zoey had warned us she was feeling ill, but was able to do the interview with us.
Problems
As the camera person I knew what we wanted to shoot artistically, but as we started to set up there were problems with framing the shots. We had tested some shots previously and setting up the camera for the actual interview to exactly how we wanted. As we were restricted for time we had to shoot basic shots for the interview. These basic shots were taught to us by Peter Lloyd Williams.
1. One - shot of guest
2. Two - shot of guest and interviewee
3. Noddies

Sound Problems
Other problems were having Ronnie around whilst the interview was being filmed. As Ronnie is a bright child who loved to talk, we had to try and keep him as quiet as we could but even so, we could hear him in the background which affected the sound and the interview. There were only 2 of us on the shoot. My role was the cameraman so I had to film, and the director tried to get Zoey discussing about certain topics and listening carefully to what was being said. If we had the producer, she could've looked after Ronnie in another room.
Lighting Problems
The lighting was quickly getting dark outside, so we set up my lights which was at 6300K, this would be the same as outside sunlight temperature. From setting up the lights we had problems with the reflection of the lights bouncing off her glasses. The mid-shots were ok, but for the extreme close ups of Zoeys eyes I had to move the camera around and re-frame the shots.

After filming, Zoey fell ill even more. We quickly packed up and due to her circumstances and lack of money I decided to offer her a lift to the hospital so she can get herself checked out.

Shoot day 3 - 2nd Interview with Zoey

After reviewing the interview we realised there were certain information Zoey had forgotten to mention. We had to reshoot another interview with Zoey and we had no way of getting in contact with her because her phone was broken and she had no internet at home to email her. I suggested we could find Zoey at the Salvation Army when 'Mummy and Me' group was on because this was the only place we knew where to find her.

Shoot day 4 - Cut-Aways

A day in the life of Zoey. Our group had started the day with Zoey getting Ronnie dressed for school.
Problems
As we arrived the school, we had no permission to film the children, so once again we had to film in mid-shots and close ups so we didnt catch the other children in the shots.
